Reconquest Mother Earth Carl Alves Books

This book takes me back to my younger days – longer ago than I'd like to admit – when cheap science-fiction novels were churned out by the barrel-full. They were called pulp fiction, and they were a fun read, but no one took them too seriously.

This book is like that. You'll enjoy reading it if you don't care too much about the science, and you like your heroes very heroic and a little corny to boot. The hero is Mitch, a Navy SEAL, and he's not about to let an invasion get him down. Luckily for him, he gets a lot of breaks, sometimes too many. You have to be willing to suspend disbelief to enjoy this book. You also have to read through some "gosh darn it I'm going to take back my planet no matter" what speeches at regular intervals.

On the bright side, you can't help cheering for Mitch . He has that good old American can-do spirit. You want him to win. If you're young or young at heart and optimistic you'll enjoy that. If you're a bit older or cynical you might find it too much. As science fiction goes it's very light, but if you like stories about aliens invading Earth, it might be something you enjoy.

Reconquest Mother Earth Carl Alves Books Reviews

I know nothing about the author, so I'm not sure what his intent was for the book. Depending on how you approach this book, it could either be a two or four star book. I'll split the difference and go for 3 Stars. Again, when it comes to books - a 3 Star, for me, means it was entertaining and fairly easy to navigate through the adventure. I "hate" that calls 3 Star book a critical review.

I approached this book, based on the cover art, as a dime-store, campy Sci-Fi story. It is what attracted me to the book and I'm glad to have read it. This follows the straight-laced hero and his desire to beat incredible odds. You will, must, suspend belief to enjoy this tale. If you don't, you probably will fall on the 2-Star side.

So, the story Super-soldier, or I mean, SEAL, Mitch Grace is introduced as a straight-laced, by-the-book, model military professional. He soon encounters a few aliens of different size and shape and an attack soon begins. Mitch gets clobbered and comes out of a coma five years later to learn that Earth is ruled by aliens and the majority of humans are dead. The bulk of the remaining are slaves; the few are hiding to survive.

Mitch passes up two opportunities to live life of relative leisure and wealth, but won't take the easy path and has a singular mission - to drive the aliens from Earth. After a brief scene in New Las Vegas, Mitch settles in Colorado with other survivors to begin forging a life of self-sustaining living; training a military, and Guerilla Warfare. He later is a gladiator, thus the cover.

I'll leave the story sum-up there as I don't want to spoil the read. When I mentioned suspending belief, keep these topics in mind Radar, odds of specialists surviving, thermal detection, nuisance vs. annihilation, multiple-species under one atmosphere. There are some clunky sentences mixed throughout the book.

One example
"Here are where the sewing machines will go." Sandy McGowan pointed to a room with six work stations. Nearby the workstations were bins that had various fabrics. Why not simply "The sewing machines will go there." Sandy McGowan said as she pointed to a room with six work stations, which had bins holding various fabrics. Or Sandy McGowan pointing into the room, said "The sewing machines will go there." The workstations already had bins holding various fabrics.

Long story short (too late) - this is fun-enough read. There are a variety of aliens to envision; some good, even. I can't remember much 'foul' language and overall this is a good read for YA. There is a steady flow that makes burning through this book quite easy. I was provided a paperback ARC.
Enjoyable book that looks at the aftermath of an alien invasion from the how do we rebuild the planet point of view. Good action sequences and writing that carries the story along quite well.
Although a little far fetched at times, it kept at a fast pace with a good story line. It was also nice to read an ebook that was only one book and not a series of 3-5 books.
I was very surprised by how the story unveiled into a different direction, couldn't wait to read the ending. Loads of entertainment.
It captures the confusion and fear in the first 2 chapters. The main body of the book fast moving and held my interest. I didn't see the ending coming. It did however end the book perfectly. A complete book and a great read.
Who would think of a plot like this from Carl Alves?
It's amazing how he put it together, even that Mitch, a Navy Seal was taken out in the first pages of the book, when the aliens took over earth.

I love reading sci-fi but never have I read something like that before. It's still with me, even I have started to read another book. thinking of Mitch, how determent he is to re-conker the earth after it was occupied by strange aliens. Strange aliens? For sure. They came in all various of sizes and shapes, big ones and small ones, even human shapes. And one alien, Sarn who nursed him to health again, after he spent 5 years in a coma. Sarn never gave up on him that he would be coming back to live. And he did, after 5 years in coma, only to hear, that Mitch would never taken it for granted, and so would never give up of the idea to re-conker the earth from the aliens. After he got his strength back, he went out to find survivors. and he found them. Here he plotted with them the re-conker of earth. Finding military places they were not destroyed and fighter plans and bombs. With them he targeted the aliens settlements with success.

But the aliens found his hideout and captured him and made him an gladiator to fight other humans, but he refuses and tells them he would fight them, the aliens. They agreed. And so he knew how to kill the aliens. For two years he survived and killed the aliens they fought with him. And then he was free and plotted out how to kill the invaders.

Will he succeed? Will they take earth back?
Well, you better get the book and find out. I don't like to write too many spoilers.

A well written plot. Well done, Carl.
This was an interesting take on Earth invasion by aliens. For someone like me who loves alien stories, this read well and fast. However, I felt the way the humans took back their planet was a little on the weird side. Don't take me wrong, it was original, and unpredictable…it just feels as if it let me down a little. On the alien side, my favorite was Sarm, an alien who like humans lost his planet to the invaders.

If you like invasion stories, you could give this one a shot.
